Therapy that's uniquely tailored to your needs. We're here for it.
Our therapists specialize in perinatal mental health, offering support that understands the complexities of trying to grow a family, becoming a parent, and finding your footing as a family. Whether you know exactly what you need help with or you’re not quite sure where to start, we’re here to help. No referral required.
The emotional impact of becoming a parent doesn’t begin at birth, and it doesn’t end when the baby stage is over. Our therapists support clients through fertility journeys, pregnancy, postpartum, and the years that follow as family life continues to change.
You might come to us while preparing for a baby, during pregnancy, adjusting to early parenthood, or years later when the mental load, identity shifts, relationship changes, or stress of parenting have become harder to manage. Perinatal counselling offers support that understands how these experiences can build over time and continue evolving as your children grow.
The postpartum period can bring anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, anger, identity changes, relationship strain, or a general sense that you don’t feel like yourself anymore. Sometimes there’s a clear diagnosis. Other times, you just know that things feel harder than they should.
And postpartum doesn’t necessarily end when your baby isn’t a baby anymore. We support parents with newborns, toddlers, school-aged kids, and beyond. Whether you’ve been struggling since the early days or things feel harder now, our therapists understand how becoming a parent can continue to affect your mental health, relationships, and sense of self.
Relationships can change significantly when you become parents. You may be arguing more, struggling with intimacy, feeling resentful about the mental load, or simply missing the way your relationship used to feel.
Our relationship therapists work with couples navigating communication challenges, conflict, disconnection, parenting differences, sex and intimacy, separation, and other changes that can come with building and raising a family.
It's really common to need support in all of these areas, you're not alone! If you feel unsure about what kind of session to book, we recommend starting with an individual session and your therapist can help you go from there.
Q+A
The path to growing a family does not always unfold the way you hoped it would. Miscarriage, infertility, fertility treatments, and pregnancy loss can bring grief and uncertainty that are difficult for other people to fully understand.
Our therapists support individuals and couples through fertility challenges, miscarriage and other pregnancy losses, pregnancy after loss, and the emotional impact these experiences can have long after they happen.
Dads experience enormous changes when they become parents too, but their mental health can easily get overlooked. Anxiety, stress, relationship changes, identity shifts, and the pressure to be the strong one can all take a toll.
Our counselling for dads offers a place to talk honestly about what’s going on and get support from a therapist who understands the realities of fatherhood.

Common areas we support include:
Perinatal mental health is a specialized area of therapy. Yet most traditional counselling and social work programs spend very little time preparing therapists for the emotional realities of fertility, pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and parenthood.
Every therapist at The Perinatal Collective has additional, in-depth training in perinatal mental health. That means you don’t have to spend your first few sessions explaining why intrusive thoughts after having a baby feel so scary, why a miscarriage is still affecting you months later, or why becoming a parent has completely changed the way you feel about yourself or your relationship.
We understand that these experiences are complicated. Our job is to meet you in them and help you find a way forward that makes sense for you.
The Perinatal Collective is a virtual therapy practice with therapists supporting clients in many provinces across Canada. Online sessions make it easier to access a therapist who specializes in perinatal mental health without adding a commute, childcare arrangements, or another appointment outside the house to your day.
Our team includes therapists providing specialized perinatal therapy across Canada, from British Columbia, Ontario, and beyond.
Therapy regulations vary across Canada, which means the therapists available to you will depend on where you live. When you visit our therapist directory, simply filter by your province to see who you can book with.
