We offer specialized Perinatal therapy for parents in ON

Pregnancy, postpartum, and early parenthood can shift how you feel in ways that are hard to explain. You might be managing day-to-day life, showing up for others, and doing what needs to be done, while still feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or not quite like yourself.

At The Perinatal Collective, we offer perinatal counselling for individuals and couples across Ontario. Our therapists support the emotional, mental, and relational challenges that can come up during fertility journeys, pregnancy, after birth, and throughout the early years of parenting. All sessions are offered online, so you can access support whether you’re in Toronto, Ottawa, London, or anywhere else in the province.

Your concerns do not need to be clearly defined or “serious enough” to reach out. Many people come to therapy without a clear explanation, only a sense that something feels heavier, more fragile, or harder to carry than it used to.

Is This You?

You might recognize yourself in some of this:

  • You feel anxious, overwhelmed, low, or emotionally flat during pregnancy or after birth
  • You’re struggling after a miscarriage or pregnancy loss
  • You feel disconnected from yourself, your partner, or your baby
  • The transition into parenthood feels harder than you expected
  • You’re carrying a constant mental load and don’t know how to set it down
  • You find yourself wondering if this is “normal,” but it still doesn’t feel right
  • You’re functioning, but it’s taking more out of you than it used to

Some people come to therapy knowing exactly what they’re struggling with, while others don’t have the words yet. Both are common and valid. These experiences are more common than most people realize. And they’re not a personal failure or a sign that you’re doing something wrong.

Perinatal therapy offers space to pause, sort through what’s happening, and get support that actually reflects what this stage of life feels like.

Perinatal therapy focuses on the emotional and relational changes that can show up during pregnancy, postpartum, and early parenthood. It doesn’t start with a label or a checklist. It starts with your experience.

In sessions, we work to understand what’s been building, what’s been disrupted, and what feels hardest to carry right now. For some, that means working through anxiety or intrusive thoughts. For others, it’s grief, relationship strain, or a loss of connection to themselves.

The work is collaborative and grounded in real life. That includes the impact of sleep deprivation, changing roles, physical recovery, and the pressure to hold everything together at once.

How Perinatal Therapy Can Help

Find a therapist

Support looks different depending on where you are in your experience and what you’re dealing with.

Our Perinatal Therapy Services Across Ontario

After birth, emotional changes can come on gradually or all at once. You might feel on edge, low, irritable, or disconnected. Some parents receive a diagnosis, while others just know something isn’t right. Therapy gives you a place to talk about it without having to downplay it or explain it away.

Postpartum Depression and Anxiety Counselling

Pregnancy can bring a mix of anticipation and uncertainty. Even when it’s wanted, it can still feel overwhelming. Therapy can help you work through anxiety, navigate decisions, and process the emotional weight of what’s changing.

Pregnancy-Related Anxiety and Emotional Support

Relationships often shift during this time. Communication can break down, tension can build, and both partners may feel stretched in different ways. Counselling offers a place to work through that together, without assigning blame, and with a focus on what will actually help moving forward.

Relationship Counselling for Parents

Loss can feel isolating, especially when others don’t know how to respond or move on quickly. We support clients through miscarriage, abortion, stillbirth, and fertility-related grief, with space to process it at your own pace.

Miscarriage and Pregnancy Loss Counselling

The transition into parenthood can change how you see yourself, your relationships, and your day-to-day life. Therapy can help you make sense of those changes and feel more steady as you adjust.

Counselling for New Parents

Some birth experiences leave a lasting emotional impact, even when everything appears medically fine. Therapy gives you space to process what happened and how it’s affecting you now.

Birth Trauma and Difficult Birth Experiences

For many parents, going back to work is one of the most emotionally intense parts of the perinatal period. Even when it’s expected, the adjustment can feel harder than anticipated. Therapy can help you navigate that transition and find a way to balance your roles in a way that feels more sustainable.
