Not accepting new clients
Tessa’s approach in her counselling and parenting sessions is gentle, non-judgemental, compassionate, and very practical. She knows that busy parents are looking for solutions and useful, effective support. She brings a realistic, relatable, and experienced energy into her work, and parents feel deeply understood, validated, and encouraged. Clients leave with tangible tools, a plan, and confidence that they will be able to ride whatever wave is currently underneath them.
Tessa intentionally creates a LGBTQ2S+ affirming environment, and honours the unique perspective and experience of every client she supports. She is grounded in feminist perspectives, and a deep understanding of systemic factors that intersect and impact mental wellness and family functioning.
Tessa's approach is always research-informed, rooted in neuroscience perspectives, and helps clients use physical and cognitive methods for achieving healing and growth. She integrates a variety of approaching, including: Person-centered and Strengths-Based therapy, Mindfulness Based Therapy, Attachment and Trauma-Informed perspectives, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Family Systems and Narrative Therapies.
I am deeply grateful to work, play, and raise my family on on the traditional lands of the Oji-Cree, Métis, Anishinabewaki Cree and Očhéthi Šakówiŋ (Sioux) people.
Tessa is wonderful. She’s kind, empathetic and soft spoken, but also confident and assertive. I appreciate her perspective and input SO much.

We are grateful to live, work, and play as uninvited settlers on stolen Indigenous land across Canada. Our organization is led from the unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples, including the territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
A note on language: The Perinatal Collective recognizes the diversity of gender identities and expressions. The language in the perinatal mental health world typically reflects cis-heteronormativity and this needs to change. We support gender self-determination. We refer to mothers, fathers, parents, and birthing people in an effort to represent and include everyone in our diverse community.
